Iranian animator to judge in Annecy animation festival

The Annecy International Animation Film Festival invites Iranian animator Maryam Kashkoulinia to join the jury.

Iranian animator and animation director Maryam Kashkuli-Nia has been scheduled to serve on the jury panel at the 41st edition of the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France.

“Not long ago, I was invited by Marcel Jean, the artistic director of the festival, to be among the jury members of the festival,” Kashkoulinia said on Tuesday.

“The festival will be running on June 12-17 and I will probably travel to France in late spring,” she also noted.

She added that she had submitted three of her animations for the earlier editions of the festival.

Kashkoulinia also said that Mehdi Masoud-Shahi, managing director of Saba Cultural and Artistic Company, was one of the Iranian jury members in an earlier edition of the festival.

Established in 1960, the Annecy International Animation Film Festival takes place annually at the beginning of June in the town of Annecy, France.

Firstly held biannually as one of the four international animated film festivals supported by the Association Internationale du Film d'Animation, the event became an annual event in 1998.

The event is a contest for animated films, classified in various categories with different techniques, including animated drawings, cut-out papers, and modeling clay.
